An innovative digital strategy to help Barbour Product Search achieve their objectives
Traditionally, Barbour Product Search was a directory of suppliers for the construction sector. The old website had been transferred from print to online with little thought about user experience. Barbour Product Search wanted to increase their visits from construction users as well as bettering their offering to suppliers through the use of valuable insights.

The Boxed Red team took a strategic approach to analyse different target market needs and identify the best customer journey through the site, developing a tool that allowed users to save relevant items to boards for later. This created a really useful tool that gave extra insights to the Barbour Product Search team and their suppliers. Every element of the website, from the design layout and colours used, to the functionality and build, was carefully considered to ensure it met the ambitious objectives set.
The new inspirational content and design of the website encouraged users to engage with the site and click through more pages, alongside the prominent, easy to use search function that returns relevant results. The new website not only adds value to Barbour Product Search to differentiate from competition, but also adds value to the customer’s experience.
The new design is clean, modern and interactive with much better navigation for an improved user experience. The feedback we’ve received from customers has been extremely positive, and I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits with our audience. As a result of the digital strategy implemented, traffic to the website significantly increased meaning more enquiries, increased use of their services and greater brand awareness. The user journey was streamlined and enhanced, while keeping Barbour Product Search’s professional image very much intact.
The success of the initial project was followed up with a second stage to add a functional user system to suppliers so that they could schedule and run their own reports based on customer activity.
