Boxed Red’s ‘kindness and generosity’ helps tackle loneliness at Christmas

The team at Boxed Red have been busy spreading Christmas cheer at a special charity event – we donated 30 bright red boxes filled with presents and goodies to national charity, Contact the Elderly.

We took the boxes along to a festive tea party in Stockport on Sunday 16th December and the guests were so appreciative of the presents they received on day, with some of them saving the present to open at home on Christmas morning.

Contact the Elderly is the only national charity dedicated to tackling acute loneliness among isolated people. More than 200,000 people over the age of 75 in the UK live alone and feel that no one knows they exist. Contact the Elderly offers a lifeline to those people by facilitating friendships and companionship at monthly tea parties.

We were really pleased to be invited to the Christmas party, it was a huge success and it was so nice to see the guests having a wonderful time. We were genuinely so touched to see the amazing work of Contact the Elderly in action.

Kathleen Sheridan, Northwest Development Officer for Contact the Elderly, organised this year’s festivities, and said: “We want to thank Boxed Red for coming on Sunday and for their amazing kindness and generosity. For some of the guests it may be the only present they get this year so I am really grateful to them.”
