Mid-Weight Creative Designer

About the role

We are looking for a talented, experienced and passionate mid-weight designer with an insatiable love for design and a strong portfolio to join our team.

The perfect candidate will be expressive, bursting with fresh ideas and have a minimum of 3 years agency experience. You’ll have the expertise and confidence to take a project from a blank sheet to delivery via multiple channels with minimal help from others.

This position is ideal if you’re someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants the opportunity to flex your creative expertise alongside a team of talented and passionate thinkers and creatives.

You will be working on an array of conceptual work from branding and printed material to design for digital and will work on briefs from initial conception through to implementation and delivery.

We require that you not only have great ideas but also good technical skills when it comes to Adobe Creative Suite. In particular InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Good banter, a great taste in music and the willingness to laugh (often at rubbish jokes) are also important traits but not essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality client work as an integral part of the creative team
  • Create and prepare pitches
  • Ability to work on multiple projects across multiple clients accurately
  • Maintain the brand image of Boxed Red through the preparation of web content and printed materials
  • Ensure work is designed to meet brand guidelines and carry a high level of accuracy
  • Participate in generating ideas with the team
  • Work closely with the Account Management, Design and Development Teams to create ideas and translate client briefs into design concepts and artwork ready for execution through wide and varied channels
  • Maintain a strong understanding of artworking and production methods
  • Understand and maintain established working processes whilst having a willingness to implement your own
  • Work directly with the creative lead
  • Drive and passion for self-development

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an agency environment
  • Strong design portfolio
  • Excellent ability to interpret creative briefs
  • Confident in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Deep understanding of branding and the balance between consistency and innovation
  • Ability to design for web and build them based websites
  • Strong typography and layout skills
  • Passionate about design
  • Have a good understanding of web design principles
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage time effectively without supervision
  • Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Works well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • A solid understanding of design, copy and web practices
